WBSS Creates Virtual Tournament Featuring Boxing’s Best
Did you ever wonder how Muhammad Ali would do against today’s generation of fighters? How about Mike Tyson or Joe Frazier? In a way, we can now find out.
World Boxing Super Series has launched a special Heavyweight Legends Tournament to determine boxing’s best, while having some fun doing so. The matches, featuring eight legends, will be simulated on EA Sports’ “Fight Night Champions” game. The winner will receive the eAli Trophy.
Due to the coronavirus affecting all major sports, there are no live boxing bouts for the foreseeable future. Kalle Sauerland, Chief Boxing Officer of the eWBSS, had the following to say about the tournament:
“In these testing and uncertain times, the world is facing unprecedented challenges as we unite against the coronavirus. With this ‘eWBSS Heavyweight Legends’ tournament, we hope we can provide a much-needed distraction for fight fans around the world.”
Here is the schedule for the quarter-final bouts, taking place today, March 23 at 1 p.m. ET/5 p.m. GMT:
- Monday, March 23: Muhammad Ali v. Evander Holyfield
- Tuesday, March 24: Lennox Lewis v. Joe Frazier
- Wednesday, March 25; Mike Tyson v. Butterbean
- Thursday, March 26: George Foreman v. David Haye

The semi-finals will be taking place on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28. The eWBSS Finals will take place on Sunday, March 29. All events will be live-streamed on the WBSS Facebook page.
