Weidman Set For 205 Pound Debut

The man who ended Anderson Silva’s reign at middleweight, Chris Weidman, will now test his mettle at light heavyweight on October 18th.

As his rival Luke Rockhold had a less than stellar light heavyweight debut at UFC 239, Weidman will make the move against 4th ranked Dominick Reyes at the UFC’s return to Boston to headline a UFC Fight Night on ESPN+ card.

The move by Weidman comes after four losses at 185 pounds in his last five fights, including losing the title to Rockhold at UFC 194 in 2015 and will be his first fight since losing to Jacare Souza in 2018.

Reyes has been undefeated in his first five trips into the Octagon, with his most recent win coming in March with a decision over Volkan Oezdemir.
