We’re learning more about Lee Reeves, the boxer taken to hospital

Lee Reeves suffered a knockout loss Saturday against Gary Cully in Ireland.

He was treated with oxygen ringside, stretchered out of the venue, and taken to a Dublin hospital where he is in a “critical but stable condition,” according to latest reports.

Reeves took a record of 16 wins (11 knockouts) into the 3Arena but lost the vacant BUI Celtic super lightweight title when Cully knocked him down twice in the 10th.

Reeves protested the first knockdown. Cully with his left hand, dropped him in brutal fashion later in the round, bringing an immediate stoppage to the contest.

Queensberry Promotions issued a statement.

“Lee Reeves is still in hospital, in a critical but stable condition. We will know more in the coming days, and our thoughts and prayers remain with Lee and his family.”

It followed Queensberry boss Frank Warren’s comments.

“All our thoughts and prayers are with Lee Reeves and his family at this time as he remains in hospital.

“Everyone at Queensberry is thinking of him and we’re in constant contact with his team regarding his condition as we hope for positive news.”

Cully also shared his concerns.

“My prayers and thoughts are with Lee Reeves,” he said after the fight. “Hopefully he’s okay.

“He came in there as a big underdog after fighting relatively at a lower level up until now.

“But he really showed that he can operate at a higher level. Huge credit to him.”
