What Alex Pereira Said Before Defeating Israel Adesanya
It drew a parallel to Adesanya's fight with Kelvin Gastelum.
The new UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira has proven to be a nightmare every time he has gone blow to blow with the Last Stylebender, Israel Adesanya.
The Brazilian’s rise to the top of the UFC has also come at the expense of the Nigerian as he finished the former champ in the fifth round at UFC 281 inside New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Pereira was behind on the scorecards and needed a big final round to turn things around for himself. And he did exactly that.
But the revelation of the words spoken by Pereira to gather himself has a shocking resemblance to Adesanya’s chatter back in 2019.
At UFC 239, Adesanya was competing for the interim middleweight strap in a Fight of the Year-worthy five-rounder opposite Kelvin Gastelum. Both fighters went toe-to-toe with each other.
All three judges scored the memorable contest two rounds apiece heading into the final frame.
Just before the final round, ‘The Last Stylebender’ was seen talking to himself after standing up from his stool for the final time.
“I’m prepared to die.”
And astonishingly, Pereira was also seen reverberating synonymous sentences to inspire himself.
“Pronto para matar,” which translates to “Ready to kill.”
After the fight, Adesanya said that their rivalry isn’t over yet. He previously said that the “war” is not over.
