What Do Vasiliy Lomachenko And Teofimo Lopez Have To Say After Fight Announcement?
Now that their big title unification bout is set, Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez have shared their thoughts.
Lomachenko will have a chance to add the IBF Lightweight gold to his mantle when he meets Lopez on October 17. He already holds the WBA (Super) and WBO Lightweight Titles. He’ll also get the chance to hand Lopez the first loss of his pro boxing career.
In the press release, Lomachenko had the following to say on finally being able to get his hands on Lopez.
“Teofimo Lopez can talk all he wants. He’s very good at talking. He has done nothing but say my name for the past two years. I am a fighter, and my goal is to win another world title. Good for Teofimo. When we fight in Las Vegas, he will eat my punches and his words. I will be the better man, and four world titles will come home with me to Ukraine.”
Lopez also chimed in and admitted there’s some added heat with this matchup as he isn’t chummy with Lomachenko.
“I will beat up Lomachenko and take his belts. Simple as that. I’m coming to Las Vegas to make history. I don’t like the guy, and I’m going to have fun as Lomachenko’s face is beaten and marked up by my hands. The Takeover is here, and the reign of Lomachenko, the little diva, is coming to an end.”
Lomachenko last competed back on August 31, 2019. He defeated Luke Campbell via unanimous decision. This extended Lomachenko’s winning streak to 13.
The last time Lopez stepped inside the boxing ring was back on December 14, 2019. He captured the IBF Lightweight Championship by stopping Richard Commey via second-round TKO.
