What Does Dana White Think Of Brock Lesnar vs. Jon Jones?
UFC President Dana White has weighed in on a dream fight between Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones.
Much has been made about the status of Lesnar. The combat sports world was buzzing upon hearing the news that Lesnar is a free agent. “The Beast” had been a main part-time attraction with WWE but his merchandising deal had run out so his gear was pulled from WWE Shop. Lesnar hasn’t had a match for the company since WrestleMania 36 back on April 5.
It didn’t take long for former UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jones to chime in, saying he’d give Lesnar a beating. Speaking to reporters, White said he’d entertain the idea of Lesnar vs. Jones if both men truly want the fight (h/t Sherdog.com).
“If they both want to fight each other, I’m sure it’s a fight the fans want to see and it would be a good introduction for Jones into the heavyweight division. So yeah, if they both wanted to do it, I would do it.”
White went on to reveal whether or not he’s had any discussions with Lesnar since the news of his free agency status surfaced.
“I haven’t talked to Brock, no. I haven’t talked to Brock in probably a year. He’s 43 years old and he’s got a lot of money. I don’t know what his plans are, how his body feels.”
Lesnar last competed in the UFC back on July 9, 2016. He took on Mark Hunt in the co-main event of UFC 200. While Lesnar initially scored the unanimous decision victory, the bout result was changed to a No Contest after he failed a drug test.
In July 2018, Lesnar was teasing a UFC Heavyweight Title showdown with Daniel Cormier, who was the champion at the time. Lesnar even went as far as to shove Cormier inside the Octagon. Ultimately, Lesnar informed White that he decided to retire from pro MMA competition.
