What Does Erislandy Lara Want To Do Against Greg Vendetti?
Erislandy Lara has an idea of how he wants to go about his upcoming clash with Greg Vendetti.
Lara vs. Vendetti is set to take place on August 29. The action will emanate from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. Lara will put his WBA (Regular) Light-Middleweight Championship on the line. This will be the first title defense in his current reign. Of course, Lara has had other title reigns in the past.
Boxing Scene caught up with Lara ahead of this weekend’s action. Lara laid out what he hopes to do against Vendetti on fight night.
“I think it’s important to look impressive in this fight and I plan on doing that to the best of my ability,” Lara (26-3-3, 15KOs) acknowledged to BoxingScene, com. “No matter who I fight, I must look impressive in victory.
“I’m here to give fans exciting fights as I enter my latter years of boxing.”
Lara defeated Ramon Alvarez back on August 31, 2019, to capture the WBA (Regular) Light-Middleweight Title. Lara scored a second-round TKO victory. The win improved Lara’s pro boxing record to 26-3-3. It was also a much-needed victory for Lara as he had gone 0-1-1 in his last two outings and many believed time was running out for at least one more run with a major championship.
His opponent, Vendetti, had his last fight on July 12, 2019. He defeated Michael Anderson via unanimous decision. In the bout prior, Vendetti bested Alan Zavala in the same fashion. Vendetti hasn’t been defeated since December 8, 2018, when he was stopped by Michel Soro via TKO.
