What Does Josh Taylor Think Of Jose Ramirez’s Win Over Viktor Postol?

WBA (Super) and IBF Light-Welterweight Champion Josh Taylor has spoken out on Jose Ramirez’s victory over Viktor Postol.

This past Saturday night, August 29, Ramirez put his WBC and WBO gold on the line against Postol. The title fight was held inside the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The site is often dubbed as “The Bubble” by Top Rank Boxing. After 12 rounds of action, Ramirez was awarded the majority decision win.

Taylor was paying close attention to the bout and took to his Twitter account to give his take on Ramirez’s efforts.

“Outstanding performance from Postol!! Ramirez… hmmmm, not so much.”

Many have been clamoring for a title unification showdown between Taylor and Ramirez. In order to make that bout one step closer to reality, Taylor must get past Apinun Khongsong. Those two will collide on September 26 inside the BT Sport Studio in London, England.

Like Ramirez, Taylor is also undefeated. He’s coming off what is considered to be the biggest win of his pro boxing career. He bested Regis Prograis via majority decision. At the time, Prograis was also undefeated.

Many argue that Ramirez’s toughest opponent to date was Postol. The only career defeats Postol had on his record were to Terence Crawford and Taylor.

While Taylor will be the betting favorite against Khongsong, it may not be a cakewalk. Khongsong is undefeated with a record of 16-0 and 13 knockouts to his credit. If he’s able to play spoiler, it’ll be interesting to see what the landscape will be at Light-Welterweight. If Taylor handles business, then the hype train is likely to run at full speed.
