What Does Sergiy Derevyanchenko Want To Do Against Jermall Charlo?
Sergiy Derevyanchenko will find himself in another major title fight and he’s hoping to not waste it.
Derevyanchenko will challenge Jermall Charlo for the WBC Middleweight Championship this Saturday, September 26 as part of a doubleheader on Showtime PPV. Derevyanchenko is known for giving Gennadiy Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs tough bouts but he fell short both times. In his fights against Golovkin and Jacobs, Derevyanchenko was knocked down in the first round and had to rally down the stretch to make things interesting.
During a Premier Boxing Champions live stream on Instagram, Derevyanchenko discussed what he hopes to showcase in his title fight with Charlo (h/t BoxingScene.com).
“I’m ready. Let’s see on the 26th, let’s do a good fight, and we’ll see who is better,” said Derevyanchenko. “I want to show good boxing for those who see this fight. I want to show the best boxing show and fight of my life.”
Derevyanchenko went on to say that while he won’t be calling his shot ahead of fight night, he is doing his best to ensure he finally captures a major championship.
“I don’t like to give predictions, but I know it’s a good fight and tough fight. It’s a good show, a very good show. We’ll see on Sept. 26, but I feel good, I’m rested, and training and I’m ready … My career is very long, and I have a good experience. I think it helps me in this fight. This is part of my job. Yes, I want to hear, ‘and the new champion of the world.’”
