What Does Teofimo Lopez’s Father Have To Say About Vasiliy Lomachenko?

Teofimo Lopez’s father is bringing the heat ahead of his son’s showdown with Vasiliy Lomachenko.

A massive title unification clash between Lopez and Lomachenko is set for October 17. Lopez is the IBF Lightweight Champion, while Lomachenko holds the WBA (Super) and WBO Lightweight Titles. Lomachenko also holds The Ring championship.

It’s a big title matchup that many have been anticipating. Lopez’s father seems very confident in his son’s ability to get the job done on fight night. He told A.B. Boxing News that he sees his son having Lomachenko beat in all areas of the sweet science (via Boxing Scene).

“I believe my son is faster than Lomachenko, I believe my son is smarter than Lomchenko, and I believe my son is stronger. So he has everything to beat Lomachenko. Lomachenko is used to winning. He’s used to lining people with all of these things that he does in the ring but that’s not going to faze my son. My son has no respect for him … My son is going to beat him so bad that Lomachenko is going to be out for months, or a year or so. He’s going to be devastated.”

Lopez will look to keep his perfect pro boxing record intact. If he can do so, then he’ll have scored the biggest win of his career in the process. Lopez is 15-0 going into the massive title bout with Lomachenko.

Lomachenko has a record of 14-1. His lone defeat was a split decision against Orlando Solido in just the second fight of his pro career. Needless to say, Lomachenko has had a fast rise in the sport and has shined at the highest of levels. Many are wondering if he’ll finally meet his match in his prime years and it won’t be much longer until we know the answer.
