What Does Thiago Santos Think About Possible Rematch With Jan Blachowicz?

Thiago Santos chimed in on a potential rematch with Jan Blachowicz.

This past Saturday, September 26, Blachowicz shared the Octagon with Dominick Reyes in the co-main event of UFC 253. The bout was contested for the vacant UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship. In the end, it was Blachowicz who scored the second-round TKO victory.

Back on February 23, 2019, Santos defeated Blachowicz via TKO in the third round. This earned Santos a shot at the UFC Light-Heavyweight Title, which was held by Jon Jones. “Marreta” fell just short, losing the bout via split decision.

Speaking to MMAJunkie.com, Santos expressed his belief that he’d stop Blachowicz again if the two face off for 205-pound gold.

“I didn’t see him so different. Sure, he has more experience. Everyone tries to learn and improve their game, but I didn’t see such a difference between Blachowicz now and Blachowicz who I fought before. Every fight is different, but sure I’m going to lay down the hammer, I’m going to try and knock him out, and sure I can do this. I can knock everyone out. It’s what I like to do. It’s what I usually do with my opponents.”

Santos hasn’t competed since his July 2019 title fight with Jones. That’s because Santos tore ligaments in both his knees. “Marreta” was forced to undergo surgery. He is scheduled to collide with Glover Teixeira on November 7. If he can take care of business against Teixeira, then Santos could find himself in another title fight.
