What Is Dominick Reyes Thinking Ahead Of Jan Blachowicz Fight?
Dominick Reyes believes he has a good idea of how his bout with Jan Blachowicz will play out.
Reyes is set to take on Blachowicz for the vacant UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship on September 26. The bout is expected to serve as the co-main event of UFC 253. This will be the second straight UFC title opportunity for Reyes. As for Blachowicz, it’s his first crack at UFC gold.
During an interview with MMAJunkie.com‘s Nolan King, Reyes said that he feels he’s in for a dog fight with Blachowicz.
“I think we’re going to steal the show, we’re going be banging. He comes to bang, bro. I don’t know if you know this, but Jan comes to fight. And I don’t know if you know this, but I love to fight, we’re going to throw down, we’re definitely going to throw down.”
“The Devastator” went on to say that he feels he’s got the edge over Blachowicz and plans to showcase it on fight night.
“My youth my hunger, my movement, my speed, my athleticism, my approach to the game [are advantages against Blachowicz]. I think he’s a great fighter, I just think I’m better, you know. It’s one of those things where, he’s good, I just know I’m better.”
Reyes has amassed a pro MMA record of 12-1. His lone career defeat was at the hands of Jon Jones via unanimous decision. As for Blachowicz, he has a record of 26-8. He is riding a three-fight winning streak. Blachowicz has gone 7-1 in his last eight outings.
On his resume, Reyes has beaten the likes of Chris Weidman, who is a former UFC Middleweight Champion. He’s also beaten Jared Cannonier, Volkan Oezdemir, and Ovince Saint Preux. As for Blachowicz, he’s bested former UFC 185-pound ruler Luke Rockhold, Jacare Souza, Cannonier, and Corey Anderson to name a few.
