What Is Errol Spence Jr.’s Prediction For Jermell Charlo vs. Jeison Rosario?
Errol Spence Jr. has shared his thoughts on Jermell Charlo vs. Jeison Rosario.
Charlo is set to put his WBC Light-Middleweight title on the line while going after Rosario’s WBA (Super) and IBF gold. The action will take place this Saturday, September 26. It’ll serve as the headliner for a Showtime Boxing pay-per-view.
Spence and Charlo are quite chummy. The two are sparring partners and have no plans of fighting each other down the road. Speaking to Dan Rafael for BoxingScene.com, Spence shares his opinion that Rosario doesn’t plan to make it easy for Charlo.
“Rosario he’s a big fighter. He’s not small. And he finally gets to go to training camp, prepare for fights right instead of just taking a fight or jumping in a fight in four weeks or five weeks. He’s finally got 10-week or a 12-week training camp.”
With that said, Spence believes Charlo will prove to be too much for Rosario to handle.
“I like Rosario as a fighter but I think Jermell is going to beat him. Rosario has been stopped before. He has been hurt before and recently Jermell’s been showing knockout power. I feel like if he catches Rosario with a good shot he could stop him but I’m going with Charlo by decision.”
Charlo’s last outing took place back on December 21, 2019. He avenged his lone career loss against Tony Harrison, stopping him in the 11th round via TKO.
Rosario picked up an upset win in his last fight against Julian Williams. He scored the fifth-round TKO victory to capture the WBA (Super) and IBF titles. Rosario also won the IBO Championship but he relinquished the gold.
Charlo vs. Rosario will be a part of a Showtime doubleheader on PPV. Also featured on the card will be Jermell’s brother Jermall. He’ll put his WBC Middleweight Championship on the line against Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
