What Is Next For Chocolatito Gonzalez?

The next title fight for Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez is apparently set.

The manager of Gonzalez, Carlos Blandon, told ESPN that his fighter will be facing Israel Gonzalez on October 23. The bout will take place in Mexico City. “Chocolatito” is the WBA Super-Flyweight Champion. He captured the gold back on February 29. Gonzalez scored a ninth-round TKO victory over Kal Yafai.

“Chocolatito” has had a bit of a resurgence after some thought he may fade away following two losses to Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. In the rematch with Rungvisai, Gonzalez was knocked out in the fourth round. “Chocolatito” has since gone on a three-fight winning streak, scoring a knockout or TKO win in all of those fights.

As for Israel, he’s coming off a split decision victory over Sho Ishida back on December 28, 2019. He has won his last two outings. Israel has amassed a pro boxing record of 25-3. Along the way, he’s nabbed 11 of those wins by way of knockout.
