What You Missed In MMA This Past Week

From highlight-reel victories to speculated big-name fights, quite a few things have happened in the MMA world.

No. 3 ranked contender Jared Cannonier defeated No. 9 ranked contender Kelvin Gastelum via unanimous decision in Cannonier’s return at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night. Conor McGregor said he wants to face Kamaru Usman. Giga Chikadze and Edson Barboza are preparing to go head-to-head on Saturday.

Here’s everything that’s happened.

Even though there was a lack of famous fighters at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night, it was bloody, intense and the fighters battled it out.

Cannonier, who is returning from a broken arm, added another win to his record over Kelvin Gastelum.

But what really stole the show was the lightweight contest between Roosevelt Roberts and Ignacio Bahamondes. Bahamondes served a brutal spinning wheel kick just five seconds before the bell.

On social media, McGregor, the first-ever UFC double champion, said he has plans for when he fully recovers from his broken tibia, which he injured during the trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier.

He said he plans to share the octagon with Usman, the welterweight king.

Back to the UFC, LFA bantamweight champion Zviad Lazishvili has signed with the organization and will share the octagon with the bests only.

His UFC debut is already booked against Jack Shore, who fans might say is the most talented fighter from Wales.
Both fighters are undefeated.

Lazishvili has 13 victories without any defeat, and Shore has 14 wins, no losses.

Shore has already fought three times in the UFC. Before signing, he was Cage Warriors’ bantamweight champion.

In the PFL, Harrison made a massive statement after earning another first-round finish at PFL 9. Fans already talk about her and Amanda Nunes’ potential fight. Harrison is going to fight in the finals of PFL.

This weekend, Chikadze will face Barboza in a five-round battle.

Chikadze (13-2) has fought six times in the UFC and won in all of them. Barboza (22-9) is a veteran of the UFC with two winning streaks.

The two fighters will share the octagon Saturday.
