What’s The Latest On Terence Crawford vs. Kell Brook?

There are new developments in the push for Terence Crawford vs. Kell Brook.

Crawford is the WBO Welterweight Champion. It was reported by The Athletic that Brook was offered $1.5 million to challenge for Crawford’s gold. Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has expressed his belief that Brook deserves a fight of this magnitude and it appears Crawford is onboard.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Top Rank Boxing President Todd DuBoef revealed that Crawford and Brook are nearing a deal (via Boxing Scene).

“We’re having advanced conversations with Brook. It makes sense for both fighters. We’re eyeing a November date if it can get done. November 14 is earmarked as the date. The location, as of now, is Las Vegas in a studio-type environment. There was talk of going to Omaha, where Crawford is from, in an intimate setting with some fans. We’re weighing it up. First we’ve got to see if we can put the match together. Then the venue.”

Crawford hasn’t competed since December 14, 2019. He stopped Egidijus Kavaliauskas via ninth-round TKO to retain his WBO Welterweight Championship. The win improved Crawford’s pro boxing record to 36-0. This was also his 27th victory via knockout or TKO.

Brook last competed back on February 8 against Mark DeLuca. Brook won the bout via seventh-round TKO. It was his third win in a row. Brook is in search of his first major world championship since his reign as the IBF Welterweight Champion. His only career losses have been against Gennadiy Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr.
