When Will Donald Cerrone Return To The Octagon?

Donald Cerrone’s spotlight moment back in January didn’t go as planned. Now, he will look to get back on track before the year comes to a close.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report that Cerrone will face off against Niko Price on September 19. The bout will be contested at welterweight.

This will be Cerrone’s (36-15, 1 NC) third bout in 2020, but he will be looking for his first win since May 2019. Fighting six times since the start of 2019 and nine since 2018, Cerrone is on a four-fight losing streak. He famously fought Conor McGregor at UFC 246 in January. McGregor made his return in style, beating Cerrone via TKO in only 40 seconds.

Appearing to not be himself, Cerrone looked to find his love for fighting again. Cerrone returned at UFC 249 in May, losing to Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision.

Price (14-4, 1 NC) is 3-3 in his last six fights for the UFC. Making his debut in 2016 with the promotion, Price traded wins and losses in 2019. His last fight was a TKO-loss against Vicente Luque, also at UFC 249.

UFC 253 is currently in the mix for September 19. According to ESPN, however, logistical changes may end up moving the event. The main event of that card would be Israel Adesanya v. Paulo Costa for the UFC Middleweight Title.
