When Will Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua Fight Again?
Fresh off of ending a chapter of his career against another veteran, Mauricio Rua is set to run it back with another fighter from his past.
ESPN’s Ariel Helwani was the first to report that “Shogun” (27-11-1) will be facing off against Paul Craig. The two will fight at UFC 255 on November 21.
Rua last fight in July, beating Antonio Rogerio Nogueira via split decision. It was time third time he beat ” Lil Nog”, dating back to their days at PRIDE. Making his pro debut in 2002, Rua is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion as well as a PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix winner. He is 2-1-1 in his last four fights.
Craig (13-4-1) last fought in July, beating Gadzhimurad Antigulov via submission. It was the fifth triangle choke-win of his career. Joining the UFC in 2016, Craig is also 2-1-1 in his last four fights.
Both competed against one another back in November 2019, fighting to a split decision draw. Craig would replace an injured Sam Alvey, who broke his hand.
UFC 255 does not have a location yet. Las Vegas and “Fight Island” are both in play. Both flyweight titles will be on the line, as Deiveson Figueiredo will defend his title against Cody Garbrandt while Valentina Shevchenko will defend her title against Jennifer Maia.
