Which Surging UFC Strawweights Will Reportedly Fight One Another In September?

After almost a year away from the octagon, Claudia Ghadelha is looking to become a contender for the UFC Strawweight Title once again. In her way will reportedly be a surging star from China.

Combate was the first to report that Ghadelha (18-4) will face off against Yan Xiaonan on September 26 at the UFC’s APEX Center. The UFC has yet to confirm this bout.

Gadelha fought this past May, beating Angela Hill via split decision. She is 3-1 in her last four fights and is 4-2 in her last six. The 31-year-old fought for UFC strawweight gold once, losing to Joanna Jedrzejczck back in 2016. Since then, the sixth-ranked fighter in the UFC’s strawweight rankings has gone 5-2. She is also a former Invicta FC Strawweight Title contender.

Reaching the top ten in the UFC’s strawweight rankings, Xiaonan (12-1, 1NC) has not lost a bout since her third fight in 2010. Fighting for Road Fighting Championship and the UFC, Xiaonan has won five fights in a row via unanimous decision. She beat Angela Hill at UFC 238 in June 2019 and recently finished off Karolina Kowalkiewicz back in February.
