Which UFC Fighter Was Reportedly Released From The Promotion?

It appears the UFC will no longer be in the Ray Borg business.

MMA Fighting was the first to report that Borg was released by the promotion. This comes after Borg had to back out of his fight against Nathan Maness last week at UFC On ESPN+ 31 for undisclosed reasons. He was one of several fighters to be taken off the card days and a few hours before the event.

Borg (13-5) is 2-3 in his last five fights dating back to 2017. He has missed weight four times in his career. The former UFC Flyweight Title contender recently rejoined the bantamweight division, facing Ricky Simon back in May. He would lose to Simon via split decision, ending a two-fight win streak.

“The Tazmexican Devil” was supposed to fight on June 13 against Merab Dvalishvili. He ended up backing out due to personal reasons regarding his son. Over the years his son has had health issues that have had Borg away from the octagon. He has hydrocephalus, something that required 12 surgeries.

Besides missing weight, Borg has had to deal with injuries. A famous one was when he had to back out of UFC 223 in Brooklyn due to Conor McGregor’s bus attack. As of now, it is unknown where Borg would go next.
