Which WBO Title Fight Is Set For Joshua vs. Pulev Undercard?
It looks like fight fans will be treated to a vacant WBO title bout on the same card as Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev.
Fight fans have been clamoring for Joshua to return to action. He hasn’t competed since December 7, 2019, when he regained the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight Titles against Andy Ruiz Jr. The plan to is have Joshua defend his gold against Pulev on December 12.
While the main event has the boxing world rumbling, there is also the undercard. Boxing Scene reports that Matchroom Boxing has informed them that a vacant WBO Title fight is also set for the event. Former WBO Cruiserweight Champion Krzysztof Glowacki will get a chance to regain the gold when he meets Lawrence Okolie.
Glowacki has a record of 31-2. He was finished for the first time in his pro boxing career in his last outing. Glowacki suffered a third-round TKO loss to Mairis Briedis. As for Okolie, he’s undefeated with a record of 14-0. It’ll be sink or swim for the “The Sauce” as this is his first major title fight. Okolie scored a seventh-round TKO victory over Yves Ngabu back on October 26, 2019.
The Joshua vs. Pulev event is scheduled to take place inside the O2 Arena in London, England. Matchroom Boxing’s head honcho Eddie Hearn has said he hopes fans will be allowed to attend the event. He says British authorities are looking into allowing fans inside venues for sporting events at 25-percent capacity beginning in October.
