White Claims Woodley Lied About Diaz

While it seemed a fight between Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz this summer would be happening, UFC President Dana White cast major doubt and major shade towards his welterweight champion.

As reported on MMA Fighting’s The MMA Hour, Woodley indicated that a fight between the two is “way more likely than people realize,” and Diaz wants a fight with Woodley as he is considered to be the best option between the two.

As a guest on the FS1 show UFC Tonight on Wednesday, Dana White completely tore up the notion that Woodley vs. Diaz was an idea that was ever discussed.

“[Woodley’s] full of sh*t,” White said.

“That fight was never made, you couldn’t be more wrong, he couldn’t be more full of sh*t, and it’s absolutely not true. It’s so not true that our lawyer hit him up today and said he needs to stop saying these kind of things, because it’s absolutely not true.”

White would go on to say that Woodley’s next defense would be against Rafael dos Anjos, who just defeated Robbie Lawler in December, while Diaz has spurned all offers from the promotion since his last fight in 2016.

“Dos Anjos is the fight we’re looking at for Woodley,” White said. “He will come after Tyron Woodley and it will be a great fight. That’s the fight that’s gonna happen.”

“We’ve offered Nate Diaz five or six fights in the last several months and he’s turned them all down,” White said. “I’ve said many times over the last several months that I don’t see Nate Diaz fighting. Will he fight this year? Maybe he’ll come out and see he wants to fight eventually, but no, he’s turned down every fight we’ve offered.“

Following White’s appearance on the program, Woodley replied to White calling him a liar via Twitter.
