White Feels McGregor Will Return

Conor McGregor retired last week after negotiations with the UFC fell-through for a return during International Fight Week.

McGregor’s contention with the MMA brand is the organization never made the offer to give the former double-division champion equity in the company.

According to White if  “Michael Jordan never owned a piece of the NBA,” why should McGregor own a piece of the UFC.

While McGregor made his retirement public last Tuesday, the UFC president feels that the potential negotiation tactic will not last long and that the UFC can find ways to make him happy.

“No,” White told 8 Las Vegas.

“I think there’s some things that Conor wants. I think that Conor wants to get together, face-to-face, he and I, and we probably will in the next couple of weeks to get this thing figured out. He’s stuck on this thing where he wants a piece of the ownership. I think there’s other ways we can make him happy.”

With Tony Ferguson and Nate Diaz possible for later in the year, or an anticipated showdown with Cowboy Cerrone, there are big money options for McGregor if he decides to return, but it all depends on what White and the UFC can do to bring the biggest draw in company history back to the table.
