White: Lesnar May Get Title Shot in Return
Brock Lesnar heads into WrestleMania the reigning Universal Champion of WWE, and if the rumor of his UFC return comes true, he may have an opportunity to once again be UFC Heavyweight Champ.
As reported by Bloody Elbow, several wrestling and MMA media members speculate if Lesnar loses at WrestleMania in his title match with Roman Reigns, Lesnar will make his way back to the UFC, where he won the UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2008.
Earlier this week, UFC President Dana White confirmed Lesnar’s return on UFC Tonight, and at the 25th-anniversary press conference, White stated that Lesnar is still under contract to the UFC with fights left on the deal. Lesnar made a one-off appearance at UFC 200, defeating Mark Hunt before the decision was overturned to a No Contest due to failed drug tests.
Lesnar will have to re-enter the USADA drug-testing pool and complete what’s left of a one-year suspension before his official return. But White has already called it a “possibility” that Lesnar, in his return, challenges the winner of the UFC Heavyweight Title fight at UFC 226 between Stipe Miocic and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.
Cormier, a WWE fan, expressed a desire to face Lesnar.
“Conor called it red panty night,” Cormier said. “When you go on a card with Brock Lesnar or fight Brock Lesnar, it’s like green panty night, because it’s raining money. When you fight Brock, you get paid. [Fighting] Brock Lesnar would be awesome because you get paid when you fight with Brock Lesnar or against Brock Lesnar.”
