White Says McGregor Won’t Fight This Year; McGregor Responds

Dana White says Conor McGregor will not fight this year, forcing the Irishman to respond.

McGregor was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 but pulled out with a broken toe. That increased his inactivity further, as his last UFC fight was in 2021 when he lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The loss was accompanied by a broken leg, taking his UFC record to three losses out of his previous four fights.

Chandler said he would not wait forever as he eyed a possible fight with Charles Oliveira instead. They faced off in 2021 at UFC 262, where Oliveira won by a second round stoppage. McGregor initially hoped to be back by September as he targeted a fight at The Sphere. However, Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili will headline instead. Further reports said McGregor could fight Chandler in December. But White has now dismissed that as McGregor responded.
