White: UFC Looking Into Cyborg Situation
The biggest fallout from the UFC Fighters’ Summit over the weekend ended up involving Cris Cyborg and Angela Magana. The feared Brazilian featherweight confronted the strawweight Magana for comments made on social media, and ended up throwing a punch that could land her in serious trouble.
Following the incident, it was reported that Cyborg had been cited for battery. The UFC did not make an immediate comment on the situation, but UFC President Dana White was asked about it while attending the tryouts for the upcoming season of the Ultimate Fighter.
“Obviously, we’re looking into that and it’s very serious,” White said. “We’ll see what happens. This is the thing that the district attorney and the police are handling right now. There’s way more to that than just what am I thinking about it.”
Cyborg will end up getting a court date after being cited for battery by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. If charges are pursued, she could face six months in jail for misdemeanor battery.
