Whittaker-Till Reportedly In The Works For UFC Dublin

The UFC knew they had to go big for the promotions first trip to Dublin since 2015. According to ESPN, a huge middleweight fight is being crafted between former champion Robert Whittaker and Darren Till.

Dana White and the UFC have not yet confirmed the fight.

The 29-year-old Whittaker (20-5) is making his big comeback fight after losing to Israel Adesanya at UFC 243 in October. After beating Yoel Romero for the UFC Middleweight Title in 2017 at UFC 213, Whittaker lost the belt to Adesanya via knockout. Prior to that loss, Whittaker was on a nine-fight win streak.

“The Reaper” was supposed to face Jared Cannonier at UFC 248 but had to pull out due to personal reasons. Outside of that, Whittaker has been dealing with a number of injuries that have plagued his career.

After debuting in the UFC as a welterweight in 2015, Till (18-2-1) has had an interesting run. He was 5-0-1 in the UFC before fighting for the UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 228, beating the likes of Stephen Thompson and Donald Cerrone. He lost to Woodley for the title via D’Arce choke submission. After that, “The Gorilla” lost to Jorge Masvidal via KO in March, in only the second round.

Till made his UFC middleweight debut at UFC 244 in November, beating Kelvin Gastelum via split decision in an impressive bout. Now, the man from Liverpool has an important challenge to face in Whittaker.

The UFC’s return to Dublin is expected to take place on August 15 inside The 3Arena.
