Who is Ryan Garcia’s Tune Up Fight Against Before Gervonta Davis Showdown?
Davis fights on January 7.
Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Ryan Garcia have agreed to fight next year in Las Vegas. And both undefeated boxers are now preparing to get through a tune-up fight first.
Davis will take on WBA junior lightweight champ Hector Luis Garcia on January 7, whereas Garcia will square off against former title challenger Mercito Gesta (33-3-3).
The Garcia vs Gesta fight is likely to go down in either Texas or California, on either January 21 or January 28. It will take place at 140 pounds.
Philippine’s Gesta, a southpaw, has recently shared the ring with Miguel Vazquez, Jorge Linares and Joel Diaz Jr in his most recent outings.
Garcia is the firm favorite in this contest, but Gesta’s track record has shown that he will not make it a walk in the park for the 23-year-old.
As for “KingRy,” he is coming off an impressive stoppage win over Javier Fortuna.
A couple of weeks ago, boxing great Sugar Ray Leonard was seen giving pointers to Garcia. A clip of the two was circulating on Twitter where Leonard showed the 23-year-old how to throw his lightning-quick snap left hook.
