Who Will Be Competing On The Jose Ramirez-Viktor Postol Fight Card?
Now that the main event is finally set, it is time to focus on the fights that will be leading up to it.
On August 29 inside the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jose Ramirez will face off against Viktor Postol. Ramirez (25-0) is coming off of a TKO-win over Maurice Hooker back in July 2019. He won the WBO Junior-Welterweight Title to go along with his WBC belt. The 27-year-old won the vacant WBC belt back in 2018, beating Amir Iman.
Postol (31-2) is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Mohamed Mimoune back in April 2019 to become the mandatory challenger. He is on a two-fight win streak following a 1-2 record from 2016 to the middle of 2018. The two were supposed to fight in China earlier in the year, but the bout was postponed due to the coronavirus heavily affecting the area. They were then booked for May in California, but it was once again postponed due to the pandemic growing in America.
The planned co-main event is Arnold Barboza Jr. v. Tony Luis. Joining them will be Elvis Rodriguez v. Cody Wilson. Rodriguez (8-0-1) made his pro debut in 2019. He has fought twice in the “Bubble” beating Danny Murray and Dennis Okoth.
“I like staying active and putting on a show for the fans,” said Rodriguez. “You’ve seen two big knockouts from me inside the ‘Bubble,’ and I don’t see my third fight being any different.”
Wilson (9-2) made his pro debut in 2018. He is on a four-fight win streak and last fought in February, beating Dan Karpency via unanimous decision.
All undercard bouts will take place on ESPN+ at 7:30 p.m. ET. Matches and competitors also on the fight card include:
