Who Will be On The Cover Of The ‘EA Sports UFC 4’ Video Game?
Two of the UFC’s most marketable stars will grace the cover of the UFC’s newest video game. Within the game, they will be joined by iconic UFC fighters, as well as some of the best boxers in the world today.
In a release, it was announced that Jorge Masvidal and UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya will both be on the cover of the EA Sports UFC 4 video game.
“EA SPORTS UFC 4 is the best fighting game ever made,” UFC President Dana White said. “Fans can
play in the top arenas, as well as in Backyard and Kumite environments. This game allows you to play
with the top athletes in UFC history*, plus legends like Bruce Lee and boxing champions Anthony Joshua
and Tyson Fury. It’s crazy how good this game is.”
A former kickboxer, Adesanya (19-0) made his UFC debut in 2018. He quickly won five fights, beating icon and role model Anderson Silva at UFC 234. “The Last Stylebender” was able to take out Robert Whittaker at UFC 243 in October to become the undisputed Middleweight Champion. His last fight was in March, beating Yoel Romero at UFC 248 via unanimous decision.
“I am the face of the new wave of UFC fighters, so it feels right to represent the sport on this new generation UFC game,” Adesanya stated. “I look forward to my fans playing as me as much as I have enjoyed playing as myself.”
An MMA fighter since 2003, Jorge Masvidal managed to become an international sensation in 2019 with the UFC. Recording the fastest knockout in company history against Ben Askren, Masvidal won the BMF Belt by beating Nate Diaz inside Madison Square Garden. He recently fought on less than ten days notice, losing to Kamaru Usman at UFC 251 for the UFC Welterweight Title.
“MMA is more than about the belt. It’s about who you are as a person and the determination that drives a fighter to go from unknown to selling out arenas all over the world,” stated Masvidal. “I grew up backyard fighting so it’s exciting for me to see that style of fighting come to UFC 4 where players can bring out their Gamebred mentality.”
Features within the game include an all-new career mode, as well as four new environments. They include The Kumite, The Backyard, UFC APEX, and Action Avenue. Utilizing different styles of martial arts will be the name of the game, as you will have a chance to learn while playing. Paths can be chosen through backstories and an in-depth look at the fighter’s career.
The game will be available for Playstation and Xbox One. According to EA Creative Director Brian Hayes, the product being compatible with PS5 and Xbox Series X is still unknown.
“UFC 4 is the most authentic MMA game ever,” said Hayes. ” We’ve created a visceral fighting experience that allows players to create their own UFC legacy with Create a Fighter, explore the origins of MMA through our new fighting grounds and be in full control of every strike and takedown with our overhauled core gameplay mechanics.”
As previously announced those who pre-order the game can play as lineal and WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury as well as WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua. Both have agreed in principle to fight one another in 2021.
