Who Will Jai Herbert Make His UFC Debut Against On A ‘Fight Island’ Card?

The UFC has been looking to rebook the debut of former Cage Warriors Lightweight Champion Jai Herbert. According to Combate, Herbert will fight on July 25 on “Fight Island” against Francisco Trinaldo.

Herbert (10-1) made his professional debut in 2015. He made his Cage Warriors debut in 2018, beating Erdi Karatas via unanimous decision. The 32-year-old is on a six-fight win streak, last beating Cain Carrizosa at Cage Warriors 109 via knockout.

The UFC debut of Herbert was supposed to take place on March 21 at UFC London against Marc Diakiese, but the event was postponed as a result of the coronavirus.

This will be a major step-up in competition for Herbert, as he will face UFC veteran Francisco Trinaldo. The 41-year-old Trinaldo (25-7) made his pro debut in 2006. Debuting in the UFC in 2012, Trinaldo has a 15-6 record with the promotion. A former Jungle Fight Lightweight Champion, Trinaldo is on a two-fight win streak. He beat Bobby Green and John Makdessi via unanimous decision, the last bout coming in March.

UFC “Fight island” will be taking place on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The main event of the July 25 card will feature a middleweight bout between Darren Till and Robert Whittaker. The co-main event will be a trilogy bout between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
