Who Will Now Co-Main Event UFC August 22 Card?

The UFC has found its replacement fight for its upcoming event on August 22.

Late last night, the promotion announced that Ovince Saint Preux will take on Alonzo Menifield in a light heavyweight bout. OSP is replacing Shamil Gamzatov, who withdrew from the event for undisclosed reasons.

Saint Preux (24-14) will be returning to light heavyweight after his last fight was at heavyweight. Facing Ben Rothwell in May, Saint Preux lost via split decision. The 37-year-old turned professional in 2008 and made his UFC debut in 2013. He is 12-9 for the promotion and is 2-3 in his last five fights.

Menifield (9-1) made his professional debut in 2015. Competing on Dana White’s Contender Series twice, the second time was the charm for him in 2018. He beat Vinicius Moreira in his UFC debut in January 2019 and Paul Craig in June of that year. The 32-year-old’s last fight was a unanimous decision loss against Devin Clark at UFC 250 in June.

The original co-main event of UFC on ESPN 15 was Yoel Romero v. Uriah Hall, but Romero had to back out of the fight.

UFC on ESPN 15 takes place on August 22 from inside the APEX Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will be Frankie Edgar v. Pedro Munhoz.
