Who Will Reportedly Be Fighting For The Vacant Bellator Bantamweight Title?

Slowly coming back with intriguing matchups, it appears that Bellator may have found a way to secure one of its major titles.

ESPN was the first to report that Juan Archuleta and Patrick Mix will face off for the vacant Bellator Bantamweight Title. The two have been rumored to face one another for a while now. September 12 is the date that is being looked into. As of now, Bellator has been hosting its events inside the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.

Archuleta (22-4) is on a one-fight win streak, beating Henry Corrales in January via unanimous decision. It was a rebound after losing to Bellator Featherweight Champion Patricio Freire in the opening round of the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix. He made his Bellator debut in 2018 after a run with King Of The Cage. The 32-year-old has a 6-1 record with the promotion.

“Patchy” Mix (13-0) made his professional debut in 2016. Also fighting for KOTC, the 27-year-old first fought for Bellator in June 2019, beating Ricky Bandejas. He has since beaten Isaiah Chapman and Yuki Motoya. The last bout was on New Year’s Eve at RIZIN 20, a collaboration between RIZIN and Bellator.

The Bellator Bantamweight Title became vacant when Kyoji Horiguchi, who beat Darrion Caldwell for the title, had to vacate it due to an injury.

According to Ariel Helwani, two fights have also been added to the September 12 show:

  • Jon Fitch v. Neiman Gracie
  • Liz Carmouche’s Bellator debut v. DeAnna Bennett
