Why Is Jaron Ennis Avoided By Champions?

He is set to fight on January 7.

Canadian boxer Cody Crowley believes that there are reasons why top champions are avoiding a fight against Jaron Ennis (29-0, 27 KOs).

Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford, the current champions at 147, are on a good winning run at the moment. With the situation they find themselves in, there is no reason why any of them should tackle the 25-year-old and earn less money as contenders.

“There’s a reason why world champions won’t fight him, right? But then they go and try and throw him to someone else and offer them pennies to fight him,” said Crowley to Thaboxingvoice about ‘Boots’ Ennis.

“Meanwhile, world champions won’t fight him for a couple of million dollars. You’ve got [Keith] Thurman, who says he wants ten million dollars to step in the ring with him,” Crowley continued about Jaron Ennis.

“I’m just talking about what I see,” said Cody when asked how he knows the champions are avoiding Boots Ennis. “There are other outlets that are sharing news.”

Ennis is set to fight Karen Chukhadzhian (21-1, 11 KOs) in a 12-round co-feature spot on January 7 for the interim IBF welterweight title. He is aiming to put pressure on Spence to defend against him.
