Why Joseph Parker Will Never Fight Tyson Fury
Joseph Parker has the hunger to win the WBC heavyweight title, but if that means taking on Tyson Fury, then he would never agree for the matchup.
Parker and Fury have been close friends for years. On several occasions, both boxers have been seen sparring together and helping each other hone their skills before major fights.
Fury retained his WBC crown against Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder in the trilogy showdown in 2021. He is now close to locking horns with Dillian Whyte. Top Rank boss Bob Arum had claimed that he would look to Parker if Whyte delays or turns down the terms for the title fight.
But Parker is willing to wait and fight another route to glory instead of sharing the ring with his friend.
“We have a great relationship. He treats me like a younger brother, his whole family looks after me. I’ve based myself here in Morecambe now,” Parker said of the Gypsy King in a recent interview.
“I’ve stayed in his house, I’m using his gym. I think I’ll never fight him. I’ll let him do his thing and fight everyone else. I’ll try to go another path and do my best to win the other belts if I can.”
