Whyte Talks Miller-Joshua Rumor
As it gets closer to April 13th, top contender Dillian Whyte is beginning to doubt if he’ll face Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium.
After Whyte stopped Dereck Chisora on December 22nd at the O2 Arena, he and Joshua got into some smack talk leading many to believe Whyte would be the top choice to face the unified champion this spring.
Even though promoter Eddie Hearn has pegged Whyte as the front runner, a rumor persists that Joshua will bypass his signed date at Wembley for a fight later in the spring against Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden.
When asked of where he stands at the moment, Whyte claimed that: “I have no idea [if I’m fighting Joshua]. I don’t know what’s going on. I expected him and his team to have at least contacted me.”
“I’m not meeting Eddie until another two weeks. That’s not enough time to prepare for a fight like that. You need to know what’s going on so you start preparing from now. I need to know what I’m doing now, why at the end of the month? I’m meant to be meeting him, I think the 14th or 15th.”
When asked about the rumor of Joshua being enamored with the Garden and looking to fight there next, Whyte sees that as likely.
“Rumor has it that Joshua’s gonna fight Miller in Madison Square Garden, so let’s see. It’s a small world and a lot of things you hear in boxing there’s usually a massive amount of truth to it,” Whyte said to IFL TV.
