Wilder-Ortiz Set For March 3rd

Following the cancellation of their first encounter, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will get a chance to battle Luis Ortiz on March 3rd.

The event promoted by Premier Boxing Champions, TGB Promotions, and New York area DiBella Entertainment, will bring Wilder back to the sight of his most recent defense, Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In his last fight, Wilder scored a devastating first round knockout on mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne, who was the replacement for Ortiz.

The two were set for the November 4th date in Brooklyn, but Ortiz was pulled due to failing a pre-fight drug test, leading to Stiverne to be placed back into the fight, after stepping aside for Ortiz and receiving a six-figure sum to do so.

After the World Boxing Council conducted an investigation, the boxer was cleared after it the sanctioning body determined that Ortiz’s failed test was the direct result of his prescribed medication for high blood pressure, leading Ortiz back to the ring in December, only to be confronted by Wilder following his victory.
