Wilder’s Manager Open To AJ Talks After Fury Fight
The saga of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua continues, as the WBC world heavyweight champion’s team is willing to negotiate for an April fight, but only after Wilder’s December 1st fight with Tyson Fury.
Wilder and Fury clash in Los Angeles on December 1st, and the Alabama born boxer’s co-manager Shelly Finkel is fine with opening the door to talks with either Barry Hearn or Eddie Hearn but sees no reason to do so now.
“After the fight, of course,” Finkel told Sky Sports. “There’s nothing to talk about before that.
“After December 1, I would be glad to talk to him, or [his father] Barry [Hearn], or both.”
Asked if Wilder and Joshua can agree a fight for 2019, Finkel said: “That’s up to them.”
Eddie Hearn, who guides Joshua’s career is hoping that talks would start sooner to ensure the fight would be close to final on December 1st.
“I want to be in a position where, by December 1, we are done or almost done,” he told Sky Sports.
“We just have to watch the fight and sign the deal after.”
