With No Ryan Hall, Who Will Reportedly Fight Ricardo Lamas?
A former Contender Series participant will be making his official UFC debut this weekend.
MMA Fighting was the first to report that Bill Algeo will be fighting this weekend, August 29 at UFC on ESPN+ 33. He will be facing off against Ricardo Lamas, who was in need of a new opponent. Lamas was set to face Ryan Hall, who had to back out due to an injury.
Making his debut in 2012, Algeo (13-4) has fought for Cage Fury Fighting Championships, World Series of Fighting and Ring of Combat. He made an appearance during last year’s Dana White’s Contender Series, losing to Brendan Loughnane via unanimous decision. The 31-year-old’s last bout was a unanimous decision win over Tim Dooling just a few weeks ago on August 13.
Algeo will need to make weight and go through proper COVID-19 safety procedures in order to compete in the short-notice fight.
Lamas (19-8) is 1-3 in his last four fights. Debuting in the UFC in 2011, the one-time UFC Featherweight Title contender last fought in June 2019. Back at UFC 238, “The Bully” lost to Calvin Kattar via knockout.
UFC on ESPN+ 33 will be inside the UFC’s APEX Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will be Anthony Smith v. Aleksandar Rakic in a light heavyweight fight.
