World Championships: 4 American Boxers Secure Place In Semifinals

Four American Boxers secured their places in the 2021 World Championship Boxing Semifinals.

Omari Jones started off the day with an an impressive victory over 2020 Olympian Wanderson De Oliveira of Brazil.

In a contested fight, Jones started off and finished strong. Winning all five judge cards in the first round and winning four out of five judge cards in the last. He will go on to face Lasha Guruli of Georgia to advance to the Championship round.

The other American Star Jahmal Harvey got his 4rth victory of the tournament against Thailand’s Rujakran Juntrog. He won convincingly, grabbing all 5 judges score cards in all three rounds to win by Unanimous decision.

He will go on to face France’s 2020 Olympian Samuel Kistohurry.

Flyweight Roscoe Hill of Spring, Texas continued the momentum of the day with a win over Italy’s Federico Serra. The defensive performance propelled him to win by unanimous decision.

With a bronze medal already guaranteed he will look continue his quest for Gold against Russia’s Akhtem Zakirov in the semi finals.

Light heavyweight Rahim Gonzales closed out the great day for team USA, by delivering a a strong performance against Omurbek Bekzhigit of Kyrgyzstan. Winning all three rounds 5-0, 4-1, 5-0  and clinching team USA’s 4rth medal of the tournament.

He will go on to face Serbia’s Vladimir Mironchikov in the semi finals.
