Yair Rodriguez Calls Max Holloway ‘One Of The Best Fighters In MMA History’
Yair Rodriguez has been respectful of his upcoming opponent Max Holloway and acknowledged the Hawaii star as one of the best MMA stars in history.
They will lock horns in the November 13 main event. Rodriguez has lost only once in his seven-year stint in the UFC. Frankie Edgar is the only man to beat him in 2017.
He has been on a roll since then, beating Jeremy Stephens in his last fight in 2019. El Pantera has not fought in two years, but he never stopped training during the hiatus.
“When I was off, I was able to work on a lot of things, not only physically, but mentally and spiritually,” Rodriguez said.
“I know Max held the belt for a long time and he’s one of the best fighters in MMA history. Fighting against him takes me to that next level where I need to be to become a champion. I have fought against former champions before, but I wasn’t at a point in my mind where I was mature enough.”
Holloway will treat this fight as an interim title fight that will lead him to another showdown against Alex Volkanovski. The Blessed is coming off a dominating decision win against Calvin Kattar in January.
