Yan Xiaonan Defeats Mackenzie Dern By Decision In UFC Vegas 61 Main Event
Yan Xiaonan is back in the winning column.
Xiaonan (15-3) was able to outperform Mackenzie Dern (12-2) and won by majority decision in the main event of UFC Vegas 61 on Saturday. Xiaonan won with two judges’ scorecards while the third had scored the bout in favor of Dern.

In the first round, Dern landed punches while Xiaonan gave a combination of kicks. Xiaonan was able to put her takedown defense on display and kept the fight standing while Dern tried to take it to the mat twice.
On Dern’s third attempt, she was able to take the fight to the ground, but Xiaonan reversed and landed some punches on the top before the round ended.
The second round was much of the same where Dern continued to take the fight to the ground, but Xiaonan was able to escape.
In the fifth round, Dern almost had her opponent when Xiaonan gave up her back, which eventually allowed Dern to go for an armbar. But again, Xiaonan was able to escape. Both fighters continued to trade punches on the ground until the final bell sounded.
