Yordenis Ugás Targeting Errol Spence Jr. As Next Opponent
Yordenis Ugás nabbed the WBA super world welterweight title belt on Saturday, and he’s already eyeing his next opponent.
Ugás (27-4, 12 KOs) said he wants a unification fight with another 147-pound champion, but preferably Errol Spence Jr.
“Now the plan is to unify the titles at welterweight,” Ugás said immediately after his win over Pacquiao. “… He’s the next one on the list, but most of all, I’m praying that he recuperates.”
Ugás originally replaced Spence in the Pacquiao fight due to the boxer’s eye injury. Spence has since been recovering from the surgery to repair it, and Ugás has since become more than “the replacement.”
Spence (27-0) is the WBC and IBF champion. His recent victories include against boxers like Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter.

As Chris Arreola, a heavyweight boxer, he said a Spence-Ugás matchup should be one that happens.
“There are so many fights to be made,” Arreola said.
“The main one is him and Spence. Why not? He filled in for Spence. Why not take over him against Spence. Make that fight happen?
