Yorgelis Salazar has been given the second Grand Winner award following the absence of Reem Ahmed Salama from the Karate 1-Premier League event in Dublin.
This just goes on to add to the list of accomplishments that Salazar has managed to achieve. She is a two-time continental champion, who has managed to grab medals in all three Karate 1-Premier League events that have occurred this season. And she will be hoping to do the same at the last event in Dublin in what would cap off a remarkable season. This time the 25-year-old Venezuelan will compete in the Kumite -50kg category.
And her form has been impressive. In last season’s events, Salazar won five gold medals across the Karate 1-Premier League events in Matosinhos and Baku, as well as grabbing the crown at the PKF Continental Championships. So far this season, she has managed to obtain a silver in Cairo, gold in Raba and a bronze in Fukuoka.

Reaction To The Award
“Last year, when I won the Grand Winner award for the first time, I mentioned that I was proud to bring Venezuela back to the frontline of Karate and to show that a young generation of athletes showed potential to take Venezuelan Karate to the top of the world. Now, I won the Grand Winner award again and it makes me very proud and happy. You may be lucky (to win Grand Winner) a first time but a second time sure it is not by chance. I hope I win the Grand Winner award for many more years to come. After Dublin, I will focus on the World Championships and the Pan American Games. Both events are very important to me and I hope to give my best in both of them,” Salazar
