Zepeda Vs. Roach Talks Reportedly Underway

Talks have reportedly begun for a vacant WBC Lightweight Title fight between William Zepeda (33-1, 27 KOs) and Lamont Roach Jr. (25-1-3, 10 KOs) for June 20.

The belt became vacant after Shakur Stevenson was stripped following his win over Teofimo Lopez to become the WBO Junior Welterweight Champion. The WBC made the order at the expense of the current interim champion, Jadier Herrera.

Despite being the #1 contender, Zepeda is looking to bounce back from the unanimous decision defeat to Shakur Stevenson in July 2025. Roach Jr. is currently ranked #2 by the WBC following back-to-back controversial draws against Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz. The winner of this June clash will be required to make their first defense against Herrera.
