Zurdo Ramírez Vs. David Benavidez Confirmed
An All-Mexican unification clash is set for Cinco de Mayo weekend, as Zurdo Ramírez and David Benavidez have officially agreed to fight on May 2 in Las Vegas.
The announcement marks the first time in history that two Mexican fighters will compete for a cruiserweight world championship. Ramírez will defend his WBA and WBO titles, as he beat Yuniel Dorticos in June 2025 in his last fight. Following the win, Ramírez underwent successful shoulder surgery in July. Meanwhile, Benavidez moves up to 200-pounds in pursuit of becoming a three-division world champion. Benavidez stopped Anthony Yarde in a seventh-round technical knockout to retain his WBC light heavyweight title last November. After the fight, Benavidez immediately signaled his intent to move up.
