Gervonta Davis (30-0-1) is being linked with a return to the ring later this year against Isaac Cruz (28-3-2), with early fall the target.
Davis has not boxed since his controversial majority draw against Lamont Roach Jr. in March 2025. The referee’s failure to give Roach a 10-8 round in round 9 once Tank took a voluntary knee prevented him from getting a win. Tank currently holds the WBA champion-in-recess status at lightweight after the organization stripped him following his charges relating to battery, kidnapping and false imprisonment.
Davis has called for a Cruz rematch, as the Mexican is one of only two fighters to have gone the distance with Davis, their December 2021 clash being a unanimous decision win for Tank. Should Davis-Cruz II go ahead, it would free up Schofield to pursue the vacant WBA lightweight title against Lucas Bahdi.
