Jones Told To Retire Rather Than Facing Aspinall

Rashad Evans wants to see Jon Jones retire rather than fighting Tom Aspinall.

Jones returned in 2023 to capture the vacant UFC heavyweight title with a dominant submission win over Ciryl Gane. He has only fought once since then, stopping Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. While there has been growing anticipation for a clash with Aspinall, Jones has given mixed signals—saying he’s open to the fight but reportedly requesting six months to prepare for the Brit.

Meanwhile, Aspinall continues to defend his interim heavyweight title. After a convincing win over Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304, speculation has turned to a potential bout with Ciryl Gane as he waits for Jones. Aspinall has held the interim belt since a first-round knockout of Sergei Pavlovich in 2023. Despite Dana White’s confidence that Jones vs. Aspinall will happen, Evans believes Bones should retire.

“Here’s the thing I’m kind of torn about it. I feel like the part of me, the fan side of me definitely wants to see it. I want to see it for sure. But the other part of me who’s like very impressed with what Jon Jones is able to do, want to see him go out on top and not even have to [fight again],” Evans said
