Cris Cyborg (29-2) is no longer certain that 2026 will be her final year of competition.
The 41-year-old defends her PFL women’s featherweight title against Ketlen Vieira (16-5) in the main event of PFL Tampa on August 22. The bout is the final fight on Cyborg’s current contract, but she has refused to confirm whether it will also be her MMA farewell.
“This could be my last fight, but this is my last fight in my [PFL] contract,” Cyborg told in a recent interview. “I’m really focused on Ketlen Vieira, but I’m not sure what’s going to happen after.”
Cyborg previously discussed retiring to pursue other projects, including becoming a veterinarian. However, she believes she remains capable of competing at the highest level.
“I feel better at 41 than 21,” she said. “I train smart, I recover. I do everything so I can continue to compete at a higher level.”
Cyborg also suggested that the merger between MVP and PFL could influence her decision to continue fighting. The two organizations announced their meger in July, with the company set to operate under the MVP banner.
“It was amazing what happened with MVP merging with PFL,” Cyborg said. “Together, we can be strong. It can be amazing for mixed martial arts.”
For now, Cyborg remains focused on Vieira, with a decision about her future likely to come after Saturday’s title fight.
