BMF Champ Max Holloway Wants McGregor Next

Max Holloway wants to rematch Conor McGregor following his success at UFC 300.

Holloway secured a dramatic victory, stopping Justin Gaethje with a second left to secure the BMF title. The manner of the win won Holloway many plaudits. ‘Blessed’ was well ahead in the fight, removing the need to take any risks. However, with less than 30 seconds left, Holloway pointed his finger to the center, urging Gaethje to meet him there.

As both men exchanged, Holloway landed the crucial right hand, putting Gaethje on his back. While Holloway singled out UFC Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria for his next bout in the post-fight comments, the champion wanted to rerun things with McGregor. They faced off in 2013 as McGregor won a unanimous decision. But with a belt on the line, and each fighter’s leaps in popularity, the fight becomes even bigger.

“I mean, it’s hard not to say, with him finally getting announced to fight. But it would be Conor 2, let’s run it back. That would be a huge fight I think. But legacy, and ideal-wise, trying to get back to the undisputed title, I’ll have to go with [Ilia] Topuria. He [Topuria] beat a man [Alexander Volkanovski] that I couldn’t help but figure out. We’ll have to see. We’re having a little bible verse beef on top of Twitter right now. So, life’s good. It’s looking like it will be him next, but first things first [I have to heal]. You know, Justin Gaethje kicks like a horse, man,” Holloway said

McGregor will face Michael Chandler next at UFC 303 on June 29. That rules out a Holloway fight unless ‘Blessed’ is willing to wait his turn. Chandler is also eyeing the Holloway fight, should he get past McGregor. Chandler’s last UFC fight was in November 2022, a defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 281. While Chandler will secure a huge payday against McGregor, he also wanted a legacy fight, which is against Holloway for the BMF belt.

“I would love to fight for that BMF belt eventually, and the Lightweight belt as well. I mean, I don’t like to, probably my biggest downfall is I’m not the greatest self-promoter when it comes to telling people exactly who I am and how I operate. But there is nobody who embodies the BMF belt the way that they fight more than me. So, I’ll let my fighting do the talking, and I’m sure people will be talking about the BMF belt when I dispatch of Conor in June. But, we will see,” Chandler stated
